April 8-14 is National Library Week! With the theme “Libraries Lead,” we are leading the way by nominating the amazing library workers who are stars at their libraries and in their communities.
Kids can stop by the Harnish Main Library or Eastgate Branch Library and create their own special collage bookmark AND enter a drawing for a $25 gift card. Guess how much candy is in the jar at either AAPLD location and you could win the entire jar of candy! Both activities run through April 13.
Patrons of all ages can click here to nominate their favorite library staffer to the ALA “Galaxy of Stars.”
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
Celebrations during National Library Week include National Library Workers Day (April 10, 2018), a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers; and Take Action for Libraries Day (April 12, 2018), a national library advocacy effort.
