FT/PT: Full-time, salary, exempt
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Wages: Salary starts at $32.58-$34.58/hour ($63,531-$67,431/year), depending on qualifications and experience

The Algonquin Area Public Library District is a vibrant hub of knowledge and community engagement, dedicated to serving the diverse needs of our patrons. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Adult Services Manager to lead our team and enhance the quality of services provided to our adult patrons. The Adult Services Manager works as an integral part of the Management Team and oversees a department of 10 staff members serving adults, seniors, and teens.
The ideal candidate will possess a desire to serve and interact with the staff and community; understand the changing roles of libraries in their communities; set priorities, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions; manage time, responsibilities, and pressure effectively; demonstrate good judgment when managing difficult situations; and lead and motivate staff to promote the Library.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Setting goals and objectives for the department under the Library’s strategic plan;
- Hiring, managing, and developing the departmental staff;
- Preparing and managing the departmental budget;
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of print and non-print collections;
- Providing direct service to library users;
- Overseeing adult, senior, and teen programming;
- Fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity within the Adult Services department, ensuring that all patrons feel welcome and valued;
- Staying informed about emerging trends and best practices in library services, adult education, and community engagement;
- Integrating new ideas and technologies into our programs and services;
- Preparing and evaluating statistical and other reports.

Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from ALA-Accredited institution
- Minimum three years library experience
- Management, supervisory, or administrative experience preferred
