FT/PT: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Hours: 25 hours/week (including afternoons, evenings, and weekends)
Wages: Starts at $19.78-$21.78/hour – depending on qualifications and experience

Description

We seek a friendly, energetic, and engaging person to join our Youth Services team. This person should enjoy working with children and families to create positive interactions. The person in this position will work with the Youth Services staff at the Youth Services Desk to provide reader guidance and homework help for children and caregivers; answer chat and online material requests; assist with early literacy, technology, display, and programming projects in the Youth Services Department as assigned; help to create fun preschool crafts; assist patrons with self-checkout as necessary; and provide children and caregivers with basic computer, technology and equipment assistance.

This position requires a desire and ability to serve the public with friendliness, tact, and diplomacy; solid knowledge of personal computers, the Internet, and children’s books, music, movies, and games; willingness and ability to learn emerging technologies and job related skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and excellent customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or LTA
  • Demonstrated interest and skill in providing services to children and caregivers a plus
  • Previous experience in a customer service position or library position is preferred
