Join us at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St. in Algonquin, for entertainment, food, and fun as they host National Night Out with the Algonquin Police Department! Bring the whole family to see emergency vehicles on display, enjoy “Cookies with a Cop” storytime (sponsored by the library), and much more. Show your support for your community’s police officers!
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Neighbors participate across thousands of communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
From 4 to 7pm, enjoy entertainment, food, and fun, such as hand painting a police car and door prizes. Meet dogs from the Illinois/Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dog Team and learn more about the team’s mission. Emergency response vehicles will be on display and grilled hot dogs will be served.
The 2016 NNO was a win-win for the community and the department, with more than 800 community members in attendance, and both police department and library staff were disappointed at the cancellation. Due to the unprecedented storms and flooding in July 2017, the Algonquin Police Department (PD) was forced to cancel their 2017 NNO celebration at the Harnish Main Library. The PD had been focusing its efforts on helping the community recovery and did not have the manpower to support the event preparation. Since then, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of NNO and the opportunity to bring the community together once again.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to get to know your community’s police officers and ask them questions!
