December 2 through 8 is Hour of Code™ Week, and AAPLD is celebrating with activities for kids in our Creation Center! Hour of Code Week began as a challenge to give students an enjoyable first look at computer science. Today it is a global learning, celebration and awareness event supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.
Register today for Cryptography Basics (grades 4-8), Coding with Kodable (grades 2-5), Dash & Dot (grades 2-6), and our Gingerbread Man Coding Game (grades 1-4). Stop by the Youth Services Department December 3-8 for a coding-themed STEM activity in honor of Hour of Code Week.
The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week, which is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).
Hour of Code organizers feel — and we do too — that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.
Join in this worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, demystify “code” and show that anybody can learn the basics, and broaden participation in the field of computer science.
