HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Adult (Ages 18+)
Every book you read this winter gets you a drawing ticket (limit 15) for themed prizes. After you finish your third book, stop by the Adult Services Desk at Harnish or the Service Desk at Eastgate to pick up an AAPLD official scented candle.
Teen (Grades 9-12)
Read up to 12 hours to finish. There are prizes & coupons to be earned along the way. Complete the Winter Reading challenge to receive a chocolate bar. Four random chocolate bars contain a Golden Ticket! Turn in the Golden Ticket for a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
Youth (Infants - Grade 8)
Read for 5 hours to complete the program and earn a paperback book and a small prize. Each hour you read also earns you one ticket for our drawing prize baskets. After you've completed your 5 hours of reading, keep reading for up to 10 hours total to earn more tickets for the drawing prizes.
The Winter Reading prizes will be drawn after February 7th. Winners will be notified by a staff member.

In the spirit of keeping our Reading program fun and challenging for all ages, what counts as reading to earn your prizes is detailed below:
For Youth, any content read by our little readers or read-aloud by another counts towards their Reading Challenge. We have a superb collection of children's material including play-aways and audiobooks to bring out the joy of reading. Exposing children to new words is great for their development.
For Teens, your challenge is based on how many hours of reading you are doing. Reading can take place in many formats. Novels, comics, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels, audiobooks, and ebooks all count towards your Reading Challenge.
For Adults, print books, eBooks, and audiobooks all count towards your Reading Challenge.
Good luck! We are here to support you.
Yes. You can set up as many profiles as you like, for readers of any age. If you’re a parent who reads aloud to more than one kid at a time, you can credit that reading time to multiple children’s accounts with a single click—no need to log it in separately for each of your avid listeners.
