We’re movin’ on up—literally! While the project isn’t nearly finished yet, we’re thrilled to share that the Eastgate Branch now has the first phase of a new elevator shaft in the lower level in place. The next step is to complete the portion for the upper level, and then install an elevator.
Once completed, the new elevator will greatly improve accessibility and ensure that all members of our community can easily navigate the library. We’re committed to creating a more inclusive and welcoming space for everyone.
Executive Director Sara Murray stated, “Our teams of workers - architects, project managers, masons, electricians, plumbers, and more - are doing an incredible job of paying attention to details and applying their expert craftsmanship to their trades. It is exciting to see the number of hands it takes to create and remake this building and to watch it all slowly morph and take shape into something better.”
