August has been a transformative month at the library’s Eastgate Branch. It’s fitting as we head into September’s National Library Card Sign-up Month which so happens to feature the Transformers Optimus Prime. With staff relocated to the Main Library, the once-quiet space has been buzzing with activity. Walls have been removed, furniture is gone, and where brick once stood, frames for new windows have risen.
Excitingly, the front of the Eastgate building will now feature windows, bringing in more natural light and giving the classic building a fresh look.
The pace of renovation will continue throughout August as we push forward with the Rock the Eastgate project, which runs through the 19th. The collected rocks will soon be brought to Eastgate as the construction team prepares to pour the all-new patio, ensuring the community continues to be part of our foundation and a cherished memory is forever built into the Eastgate Branch.
Inside, walls and doors have been removed to make way for new construction, bringing the architects\' vision to life. The renovation also includes updating all public restrooms, adding a drive-thru window, and preparing for a drywell conversion, which will begin after the patio cement is poured. We’re also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a brand-new elevator.
As we move closer to the grand unveiling, the excitement continues to build, bringing us one step closer to be ready to roll out the stunning new Eastgate Branch that awaits you!
